How much gold is in sea water?

October 23, 2011

Well, according to a book I have called More Dad Stuff (by Steve Caplin and Simon Rose) there are 25 tons of gold in every cubic mile of seawater!
That’s a lot of gold.
According to the book, no-one’s found a cost-effective way of extracting the gold (yet).
However, a cubic mile of water is quite a lot.
“How much?”, I hear you ask.
Well, guess first.
Go on.

Over one and a half million olympic sized swimming pools! Again, that’s a LOT of water.
Now, how do I turn this into a lesson?
