Having looked through the #UMFac does surds page, I’ve built the initial part of my Surds lessons.

Thanks to all the people whose ideas I’ve used so far. This is just my beginning lesson or two so I’m sure I’ll be using more of the other ideas too.

    Nice Starter (self promotion !) Be interesting to hear the responses of the students… did they establish any of the simplification rules for themselves?

    My students seem to find recognising square numbers within a given surd difficult, so I get them to write the surd as the product of prime factors and identify the square numbers from that.
