Cake dividing plate

February 14, 2013

A while back I came across a dividing plate on the Internet. It has markings round the edge to show you the places to cut to divide the cake into the desired number of pieces. But the ones that exist were too old fashioned for my liking. So, in a local pottery painting shop, I decided to make my own. The pictures show the markings in progress and I’ll have to wait about a week for it to be fired. I’ll take it in to school and post pics when it’s done. One of the most interesting parts was using Thale’s theorem to help find the centre of the plate.
