Money saving starter

January 3, 2016

I wouldn’t normally post another starter idea so soon but this one ties in with being the start of the year so it has to be now really.

I had a quick Twitter chat with Dani (@MissBsResources) last night based on this image:

Aside from forgetting that 2016 is a leap year and that it should say “will have saved” it has some potential for a starter.

You can probably work out some ways to use it yourself but here are some of the thoughts I had after chatting with Dani:

  • How much have you saved by the end of Jan?
  • How much will you save in December?
  • How impractical would this actually be in reality. Imagine you had a sealed jar with a slot to put the money in. How often would you have the correct change?
  • If you did actually do this, how many 1p coins would there likely be? (What are the max and min numbers?)
  • Would it be easier to just save £2 a day? If so, how much would you have and is it much different from the suggestion in the picture?
  • How much would you have to save per week to end up with the same amount?
